Choreographer's Note:      The song, Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar is one of my favorite tunes.  Four years ago, I choreographed a dance, Eight To The Bar, to this music.  Before the dance was released, I found  a slower  piece of music with a break that was fitting  for the dance.  Since this piece of music has always stuck in my mind, it was time to create a new dance,  8 TO 8.  The meaning of the title?   88 keys on a piano keyboard.  

                                       

A.        HEEL, HOOK, HEEL, SCUFF, STEP, TAP, TAP, TAP

1 - 4     Right heel touch forward; Right heel hook at left shin; Right heel tap forward; Right heel scuff forward (the L  foot bears the wt for the first 4 counts, bend the L knee slightly and sit back into your hip)

5 - 8     Right foot step forward; Left toe tap cross behind right foot; Left toe tap cross behind right foot; Left toe tap cross behind right foot (optional finger snaps with toe taps on cts 6 - 8)

 

B.        SIDE TOUCH, SIDE (diagonal) STOMP; SWIVEL RIGHT

1 - 4     Left step side left; Right touch beside left; Right step diagonal side right; Left stomp down (on ball of foot) beside right (toes face right diagonal)

5 - 8     Swivel heels right; Swivel toes right, Swivel heels right; Swivel toes to center (wt. rt foot)

 

C.        HEEL, HOOK, HEEL, HEEL, STEP, TAP, TAP, TAP

1 - 4     Left heel touch forward; Left heel hook at right shin; Left heel tap forward; Left heel tap forward (since the R foot bears the wt for the first 4 counts, bend the R knee slightly and sit back into your hip)

5 - 8     Left foot step forward; Right toe tap cross behind left foot; Right foot toe tap cross behind left foot, Right toe tap cross behind left foot (opt. finger snaps with toe taps on cts 6 - 8)

 

D.        SIDE TOUCH, SIDE (diagonal) STOMP; SWIVEL LEFT

1 - 4     Right step side right; Left touch beside right; Left step diagonal side left; Right stomp down beside left

(toes face left diagonal)

5 - 8     Swivel heels left; Swivel toes left; Swivel heels left; Swivel toes to center (wt. left foot)

 

E.         STEP TOUCH, STEP TOUCH, STEP TOUCH, STEP BRUSH

1 - 4     Right step forward diagonal right; Left touch beside right; Left step back to center;

Right    touch beside left

5 - 8     Right step back diagonal right; Left touch beside right; Left step forward to center;

1 - 4     Right step forward diagonal; Left cross behind right; Right step into 1/4 turn right;

Slap outside of left heel with left hand
